His Jacket

I present the newest anthem for everyone who feels lonely right now.  Cry with me as you read my new poem.
“His Jacket”
Among the great symbols of high school drama is the jacket
When a girl dons one of these giant plushy things
and the jacket his not hers
It is a sign that she has found a pair of angel wings
to rest on
She is hopeless and in love
She loves this boy down to his very smell
and she wishes for his warmth
she in his strength could dwell
for the rest of her life
Every fiber of cloth
sends a tingle down her spine
she is happy with what she has
because “he is mine”
and that’s what matters
When she puts it on
her boyfriend is all she sees
despite the distance
she only wants to be
with him
To be wrapped in his arms
with his aroma and magic
she will chase it forever
even if the ending is tragic
at least it ended in warm feelings
Among the great symbols of high school drama is the jacket
They know she has a boyfriend
He knows he has a girlfriend
She wants there to be no end
to their love and how long she can keep the jacket
