Spotlight on UNCC Dance Student Katie King

This year, the Sanskrit blog is hoping to profile and showcase local arts, especially those individuals producing incredible things on campus. Yet, to do so, I need to go back in time a little.

This past semester, I took a break from working at Sanskrit to study abroad at Kingston University in London, where I studied journalism and politics. One of my courses initially required me to create a video project about “someone that makes something.” I had very few connections there and initially began to panic. However, I then remembered that I had traveled there with a fellow UNCC student, Katie King. King is a student choreographer at UNC Charlotte that studies dance and theater. She is now in her final semester at UNC Charlotte and will graduate this fall. Post-graduation she hopes to work as a musical theater choreographer. Watch the video I produced below to learn more about her and a dance she choreographed in honor of her sister’s engagement!

About the Author

Elissa Miller is a sophomore at UNC Charlotte studying Communications and Political Science. When she isn’t reviewing theater for Niner Times, she is pretending to be a homicide detective for the Mock Trial team and forcing her friends to binge watch television with her. In the future, she would like to be an investigative journalist, a lawyer, or the second female President of the United States (because if there isn’t one before the time she gets there, that’s just sad).
